Problems?

Nothing is ever a problem unless you decide to make it one.

I am continually reminded and try my darndest to remember that, but hey, I'm human!

I recently got an email that triggered the hell out of me. It wasn't nasty, but I had ALL kinds of thoughts about it. I quickly recognized that nothing had gone wrong in those moments of feeling irritated, but my brain was looking for fault and blame.

So what do you do? If you can, talking about it with a friend, loved one, or coach is undoubtedly helpful.

I also like to do models. What are models?

A model is a tool that can help you with anything, and I do mean anything!

It helps me to check in with myself.

So here it is.

Circumstance: The facts about the situation. (Not what my brain is making it mean)

Thoughts, What is the main thought that is creating my feeling. (This is where it can get tricky)

Feeling, Choose the one primary driving emotion.

Actions: What the thought and following emotion are driving me to do or not do.

Result: What is the effect that I am creating for myself.

Regarding the email, it helped me realize that my perspective was not serving me in any way.

Sure, I could have kept it, but it felt awful to do so. We sometimes forget that we do have control and are not at the mercy of others.

I allowed myself to recognize and feel the emotion instead of shaming or avoiding it.

And guess what? Those irritated thoughts went away.

I remind myself constantly that I control and create my own emotions and that nothing outside of me can unless I allow it.

Using the model can help you uncover whether the thoughts you are choosing are serving you or not.

I teach my clients how they can do this for themselves, and I would love to show you how this process can help you in your day to day life and how you can use it to create a new life for yourself filled with awareness to help you live more purposefully and achieve your goals.
